So as I'm driving today my Cougar's horrible CD4E slushbox reminds me yet again that it is only a matter of time before it decides teeth on gears are overrated. (I should have gotten the bulletproof manual, but I was younger and dumber then.)
So what do I do when my car(s) remind me that expensive repair bills are just around the corner? I look at random vehicles I will never buy on eBay but secretly want for reasons that even escape me. So what did I find today?
Never seen these before, looks like something that should not be in the US but somehow is. I don't even know what to think. It's awesome and horrible at the same time.
According to the title it's a:
"Mercedes-Benz Westfalia W601 Diesel Backcountry Camper Van Jack Cook Explorer"
Using my internet skillz (with a Z, be jealous) it appears to be a Mercedes-Benz TN van with the (as the ad says) OM601 Diesel good for about 76hp and 96lb.ft of torque mated to a manual trans. Interesting indeed, I'd love to know 1) if it can reach 60mph and if it can, how many years it takes it to get there.

Yes, but no one knows how long, no pensioners have attempted it.

The more common configuration.
